Since its foundation in 2020, Spinta Studio has been working directly with yacht owners to develop conceptual and production designs for new build projects and refits.

Design Process
Our iterative design process aims to solve two dynamic interactions: the life of the yacht at sea and the life of humans on-board.

Our work starts from studying the interaction between the people onboard and the yacht in all its above deck scenarios. A human-centered design challenge. We use sketches and illustrations of the yacht profile and deck plan view that answer our semantic question: what is the purpose of it? The conclusion needs to deliver a sense of wellbeing connected to aesthetics principles and design discipline. Faired lines.

The core of our work is validating the design by analysing the relationship between the yacht and the natural environment. An engineering challenge solved with the aid of the most advanced design tools and technologies including 3D modelling, aero and hydro-dynamics computations, high-fidelity performance prediction. Experience is the key here, together with genuine collaboration with builders, suppliers and other parties involved in the project.

Inside the yacht we focus on the dynamic interaction between the people on-board and all below deck scenarios. An exercise of listening and understanding our clients way of living and daily routine, at home as much as on-board. The general arrangement of the yacht needs to deliver an efficient space subdivision in all the interior functions pushing the boundaries of engineering constraints and systems volume requirements.

When it comes to exterior styling and wood details, we apply all our knowledge of seamanship art, shipwright and design experience of classic yachts. We believe in deck details shaped by salt water through many years of small refinements.
Even if interior styling is not our main area of expertise, we are extremely passionate about the interior look and feel. We are charmed by consistent, intellectually elegant and rational design. We like when interiors communicate a sense of space with clarity of intent, fighting the culture of obsolescence and avoiding fashionable styles.
